• Historic Virginia and Truckee Railroad - Toast of the Canyon

      Carson City, Nevada - Train fanatics both young and old are looking forward to Carson City’s Steam Round Trip to the Canyon and back! These special train rides begin Saturday, July 23 and continue every Saturday through September 10. Wine is provided by Tahoe Ridge Winery, and appetizers are served on the train.

      Featured restaurants include Paradise Cove Restaurant (July 23), Thai Thai Restaurant (July 30), Red’s 395 Grill (August 6), Busy Bee Eatery (August 13). Restaurants for the remaining dates will be announced at www.VisitCarsonCity.com.

      Tasting starts at 4:30 p.m. at the Carson City Depot. The steam train to the canyon leaves the depot at 5 p.m. and returns at 6 p.m. each Saturday through September 10. Tickets are $15 per person. (A $10 rate is available when continuing from a Virginia City ride.)

      The V&T regularly scheduled trains are steaming full speed ahead this season with the diesel train on Fridays and steam train on Saturdays and Sundays through October. More info is online at www.VisitCarsonCity.com.



      This activity is handicapped accessible for most special needs patrons, but advance planning is advised. Aisles & doors on the train are 24 inches wide and can accommodate wheelchairs. The 100-year-old train and rough wooden boardwalks at Virginia City are wheelchair accessible. Accommodations for scooters are subject to size and weight. Special needs patrons are advised to inquire and to make arrangements beforehand.
