      This monument sits at the west end of historic Route 66 in Tucumcari. Travelers on the Mother Road could stay at the Blue Swallow or many other motels. At night, neon lights still flash to attract weary travelers. Dozens of murals, including the largest Route 66 mural, are dotted around town. Route 66 lives on in Tucumcari!

      If you go:
      Heading west on I-40, Tucumcari is the first major town on the eastern stretch. Drive historic Route 66 through town. Nighttime is even better when the neon lights are flashing. Pick up a map showing the location of the murals at the Chamber or at your hotel.

        Tucumcari is a great place to spend a night. Outstanding murals are found all over town and it has lots of old buildings. "Tucumcari tonight" sounds good to me!
