Sid Grauman opened his Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard in 1927 and this instantly recognizable building has gone on to become perhaps the most famous movie theatre in the world. Alongside its unique architecture and history as a venue for some of Hollywood's most glamorous occasions (it hosted the Academy Awards three times in the 1940s), Grauman's is also famous for the footprints, handprints and signatures that many of the movie world's biggest names have set in concrete outside.

When we went up there a few years back, my daughter was amazed that there was water in some of the footprints outside of the theater. It hadn't rained in months! Of course, someone may have washed the pavement - - likely. Another thing that got her attention - the size of some of the footprints. Way back when, people had smaller feet than they do today!
