Discovered by a local student in the 1960s, Wahkpa Chu'gn Buffalo Jump is said to be the most extensive and best preserved site of its kind in the northern Great Plains. Take the one hour guided tour (no self-guided tours) and you will get up close to a number of truly impressive archaeological remains including a 20 foot wall of buffalo bones. Three different groups of Native Americans have used this hill to hunt the buffalo and the oldest remains are thought to be as much as 2,000 years old.

      If you go:
The site's location is somewhat incongruous, directly behind the Holiday Village Mall, but is well worth a visit. Tour is $6.00 for adults. Site hosts will arrange tours as requested by visitors. Open June 1st through Labor Day

      US Hwy 2 West
Behind the Holiday Village Shopping Mall
