      Part of the Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge, Coquille Point is a great place from which to observe Harbor seals and wide variety of seabirds including puffin and cormorant. There's a paved trail, interpretive panels and superb views of the rock formations that rise out of the water.

      If you go:
      It's not very well signposted: from US Highway 101, turn west on 11th Street in Bandon. Best of all is the beach itself; make your way down the wooden stairs to a world of rock pools, anemones, starfish colonies, clean sands and immense piles of driftwood.
