• Fort Morgan - Gulf Shores, Alabama

      Fort Morgan is a historic fort near Gulf Shores, Alabama. The first fort on the site was built in 1813 to guard against a possible British attack which occurred twice during the War of 1812. The fort also saw action in the Civil War. During WWI, it was used as a training base. During WWII, it provided coastal defense against German boats prowling the gulf.

      If you go:
      There is a museum onsite. The fort and grounds are open 8:00 am to 5:00 pm daily. Museum is open 9:00 am to 4:00 pm daily.
