Freedom Rides Museum is one of Montgomery's newer museums. It's on the site that was once the Greyhound Bus station in Montgomery. On May 1961, a group of the brave young people, most in their teens, none of them older than 22, arrived here in Montgomery. They called themselves the Freedom Riders. The museum tells their story with plaques, photos, letters, and other artifacts. The Freedom Rides Museum is now recognized as an official destination on the U. S. Civil Rights Trail.
