American Victory Ship Mariners Museum - Tampa, Florida

This is a trip into our more modern past. The ship has excellent guides that take you through every part of this ship and explain how it works. This ship was used mostly in WWII to carry supplies to our troops. This is one of only four fully operational WWII ships in the country. There is a great video near the end of the tour. If you have a choice, ask for Gary, the ship's chaplain, as your guide. He told so many personal incidents and little known stories.

If you go:
They are open Tuesday thru Sunday: 10AM to 5PM. The tour involves some climbing steep ladders, but it is well worth it. It is parked in Channelside where there are many restaurants and shops.
