This visitors center and mini museum is a good place to get an introduction to and overview of South Carolina's Lowcountry. Housed on a significant Civil War site in the classic 1868 Frampton mansion, the museum features a recreated plantation parlor and exhibits from 10 of the other museums in the area. Of particular interest is an exhibit about the motion pictures filmed locally.

      If you go:
Free admission. Open Daily, 8:30 am-5:00 pm, except for state and federal holidays. The address also may be listed as 698 Kings Highway.
