What began as a small collection of reptiles gathered in 1935 by a teenage reptile enthusiast has now grown to be the largest reptile zoo in the world. It features crocodiles, snakes, giant tortoises, and even some non-reptile species, including birds. At scheduled times throughout the day, you can see shows with staff members interacting with and explaining about the animals, and you may even have a chance to pet some of them. The premises also feature botanical gardens and oceanic art and artifacts.

      If you go:
Open daily at 9:00 March through November. Closes at 4:00 in the spring, 5:00 in the summer, and 4:00 in the fall, except for a 3:00 closing time during November.
