Famous American patriot John Paul Jones loved Portsmouth, and resided here in this house in 1777, He also resided in Portsmouth in 1781 while supervising the construction in the nearby shipyard of a vessel appropriately named America. This 1758 Georgian house is now home to changing exhibits of Portsmouth artifacts, including historic furniture and portraits.
If you go:
Open 7 days a week, 11 to 5, from Memorial Day through mid-October, and on Veterans Day. Active military and their families admitted free.
