This moderate hiking trail of between 4 and 5 miles takes you to or near, depending on your ambitions, the top of Snake Mountain for a sweeping view of the farmlands, forests and mountains. of Vermont. It's especially beautiful in the fall, of course. The hiking trail is what remains of an old wagon trail that carried guests to a hotel that once stood on the top. You may spot peregrine falcons and other wildlife on your hike. And if you observe closely, you will discover an astounding variety of mushrooms.

      If you go:
The trail is accessible free year-round. Small parking lot near the trailhead. Insect repellent advised in warmer weather, and a mosquito net might be a good idea as well. Dogs welcome on a leash.
