      Eartha
Officially dubbed Eartha, this awe-inspiring replica of our planet is 41 feet in diameter and weighs nearly 3 tons. Constructed on a scale of one to one million, it's tilted at the same angle as the earth, and makes a complete rotation every 18 minutes. Built by employees of the defunct DeLorme map company, it's still located in the same building, now owned by Garmin. It can be viewed up close on three levels, and can also be seen from the outside when the building is closed. It's even visible from the road, and is illuminated at night. The lobby also contains displays related to satellites, and there is a fascinating map store on the premises.

      If you go:
Lobby open Monday through Friday 8:30 to 5. Free admission.
