Not surprisingly, the historic battle town of Gettysburg is said to be heavily haunted. A great complement to touring the historic sites during the daytime is a walking tour at night that exposes you to Gettysburg's legends and lore of a supernatural bent. A friendly and informative guide in period attire and carrying a lantern will lead you on a walk of about a mile, depending on the specific tour, past some of the city's historic spots where sights and sound from the spirit world have been reported. Even if you don't believe in the supernatural yourself, you will find the legends entertaining and perhaps mystifying. And who knows, you actually might catch a glimpse of something you can't explain. Organized by author and ghost expert Mark Nesbitt, these tours are an excellent way to abosrb tidbits of local history and folklore while enjoying an evening stroll. There are four tours to pick from, including the newly added West Confederate tour.

      If you go:
Advance reservations strongly recommended. Tours operate rain or shine, and last about an hour and 15 minutes to an hour and 45 minutes, depending on the tour. No rest rooms or parking on site, but street parking available in the vicinity. Arrive 15 minutes early.
