The oldest of only 5 remaining Big Boy restaurants, this one built in 1949 has been designated a California Point Of Historical Interest. It features the classic period design including the burger boy out front, and offers the well-known menu of Big Boy double burgers, fried chicken, chili spaghetti, onion rings etc. Along with some more contemporary and healthy items such as veggie burgers and salads. And every Friday night, the parking lot is abuzz with a display of classic cars.

      If you go:
The restaurant is located on the edge of the quiet but trendy Toluca Lake district, a short walk from the Burbank film studios. You just might spot film director David Lynch, who has been a regular diner here for years. You also might be interested in trying Paty's, a restaurant just down the street that's been a local favorite since 1960.
