• Oklahoma Land Run Monument - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Commemorating the centennial of the great Oklahoma Territory Land Rush of 1889, this monument is not just a statue but an astounding array of 45 statues, designed in bronze by artist Paul Moore. They depict the settlers who lined up and rushed to claim their stakes, along with their horses, dogs , covered wagons and other companions. The figures are slightly larger than life, and so incredibly realistic and well articulated that you can almost overhear their conversations. The monument makes a stark, poetic contrast to the modern downtown skyscrapers in the background.
