• Taftsville Covered Bridge - Woodstock, Vermont

      The Taftsville Covered Bridge is a timber-framed covered bridge which spans the Ottauquechee River in the Taftville village of Woodstock, Vermont. The 1836 structure replaced three prior bridges. It was partially reconstructed after damage by Hurricane Irene in 2011. It has a unique design, by local Salmond Emmons 3rd, having two spans with total length of 189 feet and is one of the oldest covered bridges in Vermont.

      If you go:
      It is easy to miss the turn to the bridge so look carefully. Cross over to the other side and park on Upper River Road to the left. No RVs- clearance is only 10 feet with a weight limit of 8 tons.
