This working "hands on" museum has sail-making rigging rooms, early engines, tools, models, themed rooms, a working lime kiln and a beach. A Foucault Pendulum demonstrates the rotation of the earth in the lobby. This is the only maritime museum located on an authentic, historic shipbuilding site.

The museum is south of town, reached by a five-minute walk on the harbor trail or a short drive. Open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; Sundays 1-4 p.m. Closed December through April. Some evening events. A $5 donation is requested. RVs can park at the adjacent Snow Marine Park.
