The farmstead that inspired Lucy Maud Montgomery's famous book series "Anne of Green Gables" is a National Historic Site of Canada. The home has been preserved much as it would have been when the author was writing the best-selling 1908 novel about the red-haired orphan and her life on Prince Edward Island.
If you go:
A short walk through the "Haunted Woods," will also take visitors to Lucy Maud Montgomery's Cavendish home, as well as the cemetery where the author is buried.
