A mountain oasis for hikers in Banff National Park, the Plain of Six Glaciers Tea House is a 4.5 mile hike or horseback ride away from Lake Louise. There is no running water or electricity, all food is cooked over propane stoves, and supplies are brought to the tea house either by horse or carried by staff members who hike up the same trail as visitors.
If you go:
The tea house is open seasonally from mid-June to early October. Plain of Six Glaciers is one of two Tea Houses near Lake Louise. The other, the Lake Agnes Tea House, is about 2.5 miles from Lake Louise. Enthusiastic hikers can attempt to reach both tea houses as part of a 10 mile loop.
