Al's Oasis - Oacoma, South Dakota

German emigrant Albert Mueller opening his first store here in Oacoma way back in 1919, relocating to the current site in the early 1950s. At this time it was a ten stool lunch counter and small grocery store; today it is a major business consisting of a restaurant, saloon, supermarket, gift store, clothing outlet, inn and campground. While still a family business, Al's Oasis is very much geared towards Interstate traffic and bus tour groups rather than local folk.

If you go:
Like Wall Drug, its more famous counterpart 150 miles west along I-90, Al's Oasis still offers a cup of coffee for just 5 cents.
