• San Lorenzo Park - King City, California

In addition to being a pleasant park for camping, picnicking, and hiking along the Salinas River, San Lorenzo is a place of significant historical interest. The park is home to the Monterey County Agricultural and Rural Life Museum, which consists of several historic buildings that have been relocated here. These include La Gloria School, a one-room schoolhouse built in 1887, the Spreckels House, a residence built in 1898, the King City Depot, built in 1903; and the Main Exhibit Barn, where most of the museum artifacts are housed. Additionally, there is an extensive display of vintage farm machinery on the grounds. Guided tours of the museum complex may be arranged in advance.

      If you go:
The park is available for day use or camping every day all year. The museum is open every day except Monday until 4:00 p.m. There is a fee to enter the park, but museum admission is free.
