• Historic Chloride - Chloride, Arizona

Established in 1863, Chloride was once a prosperous mining town with over 72 active mining claims in the surrounding mountains. Today, the small town sports a motel, two restaurants, and various gift and antique shops. Plenty of relics of Chloride's boomtown past are still to be found scattered around town, although most of the original wooden buildings have been lost to time. They are said to have the oldest continually operating post office in Arizona.

      If you go:
Chloride is only a few minute drive off of the U.S. 93 highway. Digger Dave's Bar and Cafe is always bustling with activity, and the town motel, The Sheps of Chloride, is close by. The town presents plenty of photo opportunities among its old buildings, high desert scenery, and old cemetery. Also worth seeing are the murals of Roy Purcell at the edge of town.
