The true end of the Alaska Highway is in Delta Junction, but, since most of the travelers on the ALCAN end up in Fairbanks, a second "End of the Alaska Highway" monument was built here. The monument is located right next to Golden Heart Plaza and the famous sculpture of the "Unknown First Family", a monument to the Inuit who were the first to colonize this land.
If you go:
Golden Heart Plaza is located at First Avenue and Cushman. The park spreads along the banks of the Chena River, and there's a great view of the picturesque Church of the Immaculate Conception, the first Catholic church in Alaska's interior, built in 1904.
