This is the town that built Hoover Dam. The historic district of downtown Boulder City was built between 1931 and 1950, with most of the construction taking place around 1932. Boulder City was built to house and serve as the living space for Hoover Dam workers and contractors and was the first federally sponsored city in the country. Most of the original buildings are still extant and in great condition. Many of the original businesses, such as the Boulder Theater, are still in operation.

      If you go:
There are many dining options throughout the historic district and beer enthusiasts will want to stop by the Boulder Dam Brewing Co. The Boulder Dam Hotel is a great choice to stay at to experience the area, but there are many more affordable options within the Historic District as well. Lake Mead National Park and the Hoover Dam are only a few miles away.
