A main attraction in Leelanau State Park is the Grand Traverse Lighthouse and Museum, but on the grounds are several stone lawn sculptures that were crafted by a former light keeper. They are whimsical and skillfully built from beach pebbles and concrete. The lighthouse was built in 1852.

      If you go:
Fee area. This is a seasonal attraction, closed in winter. Call ahead, because it is a long drive up to the park. To reach the lighthouse you will need to purchase a day pass to the state park (for non-Michigan residents this is about $9). In addition to the lighthouse there is a campground, two small cabins and 8.5 miles of hiking/skiing trails. Petoskey stones can be found along the shoreline.
