Just north of Newport is a wildlife sanctuary with a lighthouse, hiking trails, tide pools, and thousands of sea birds, sea lions and other coastal species of wildlife. You can spend hours here exploring or just bird watching. The tide pools hold many exceptional species of mollusks, starfish and anemones. Whale sightings are not uncommon from the high bluffs. Stay an hour or stay a day and you won't be disappointed.

      If you go:
This is a state park, so a nominal fee is charged. hiking shoes, camera and binoculars are a must, and a jacket is good, too, as the wind is constant.
