• Dante's View, Death Valley National Park

With its panoramic, mile-high view over the Death Valley basin, Dante's View is reckoned by many to be the most memorable viewing point of any site in the park. Badwater Basin and Devil's Golf Course can both be seen far below and there are a number of paths to other viewing points. Dante's View is more than 5000 ft / 1500 m above the valley floor and therefore noticeably cooler - by 20 degrees F or more - than the basin below.

      If you go:
The view point is reached via a 13 mile spur road that turns off CA 190 just inside the eastern entrance to the park. The road is open to vehicles up to 25 ft/7.6 m in length.
