Carolina Ice Palace - North Charleston, South Carolina

No matter what the season, the Carolina Ice Palace is an invigorating way to spend an afternoon or evening with the entire family without spending a bundle. Skating lessons and hockey league play are available for all age levels. There are also plans to organize a broomball league, and pickup games are currently available. There's even a church-yes a church-with regularly scheduled services on the premises, though you can't skate into it.

If you go:
Four-hour public ice skating sessions are offered five days a week. Check schedule for specific times, which are subject to change due to hockey tournaments. Admission is a very reasonable 3 to 7 dollars, including skate rental.
