Just a few miles south of Hot Springs in the Ouachita Mountains, you can get a bird's eye view of the densely forested hills by flying above them on a cable on the zip lines at Oauchita Bend. It's a particularly good place to go if you're new to zip lining, with plenty of excitement to whet your appetite for more. And the friendly, laid-back guides will make it very difficult for you not to have a great time. Plus, you have flexibility about the length of your outing, with as few as 2 zip lines, up to the full course of 7, which takes about 3 hours to complete. The various zip lines are named after animals that have been spotted in their vicinity, including Big Bear, Coyote and Whitetail. It's just possible that you will catch a glimpse of some of this wildlife yourself. At the very least, you're guaranteed some strenuous, though not too lengthy, hiking between zip lines through some beautiful country. And, of course, the thrill of soaring more than 100 feet off the ground.

      If you go:
Open all year, with tours happening more frequently in warmer weather. Call ahead for reservations. The weather can be extremely hot during the summer. Sunscreen and bug repellent recommended. Water is provided. Portable restrooms available at beginning and end of tour only. When you call you will be given driving directions, which you should follow carefully, as the entrance is easy to miss. RVs not advised, as parking is very limited and Highway 171 is narrow. If you must bring your RV, give advance notice so the staff will be prepared for it.
