More than a single museum, the Museum Of Western Colorado features several museums at different locations. The Museum Of The West, located at 462 Ute Avenue in Grand Junction, details 1000 years of history, including the days of the Wild West. The Cross Orchards Historic Site, at 3073 F Road in Grand Junction, is a living history center where interpreters help recreate the life of fruit growers here a century ago. The Dinosaur Journey Museum, at 550 Jurassic Court in in Fruita, features fossils and other exhibits related to paleontology. The MWC also offers expeditions to view dinosaur fossils onsite and even to help dig them up. Some of these excursions include an option to indulge in rafting along the way.

      If you go:
Open all year, but hours and admission vary slightly by location. Plan for dinosaur expeditions well in advance, as they can fill up early.
