Nothing says Hollywood like Hollywood Boulevard. It's here that you'll find, within a few blocks, many of the iconic attractions and landmarks people so often associate with Tinseltown: the Chinese Theatre, the Walk Of Fame, the Pantages Theatre, Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel and the Capitol Records tower. Not to mention colorful characters dressed as Spider-Man, Superman, and who knows what else. A shopping and dining center, the heart of the entertainment world, and a colorful chunk of history all in one.

      If you go:
Check the Chamber Of Commerce website for special events, such as the unveiling of a new star on the Walk Of Fame. Parking is always a challenge in the neighborhood, but you often can find metered parking if you are willing to walk a few blocks.

I went up for a star unveiling once, for Suzanne Pleshette. She had just passed away a few months before. I found parking on a street that runs parallel to Hollywood Blvd ($10), which was a lot easier than paying lots of coins into the meter and then running back every few hours to pay it some more. Parking is worse for the more prominent star ceremonies, or if something is going on in the Kodak or Graumann's Theatres. Check an off-street, though, and don't be afraid to walk.
