Walk through the marble-floored lobby, past the nickel and bronze postbox and press the button by the original elevator doors, gleaming from more than a century's polishing. This is a hotel that makes no attempt to disguise its opulence and history. Completed in 1910, the 12-story Colcord was Oklahoma City's first skyscraper and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. Today the Colcord combines character with the amenities, luxuries and price-tag you'd expect of such a grand hotel.
If you go:
The hotel is right next door to Myriad Botanical Gardens and just three blocks east of the bars, cafes and restaurants of Oklahoma City's lively Bricktown district.
