The 9,000 acres of woods, waterfalls and mountains - now known as F.D. Roosevelt State Park - were a favorite destination of four-time President Franklin D. Roosevelt, and the views over the valley below made this rocky outcrop his favourite picnic spot. It was here that he would sit and contemplate issues from the Depression to WWII. A life-size bronze statue commemorates his visits.
