• Museum of Bad Art - Somerville, Massachusetts

Lots of museums showcase art that is beautiful or brilliant, but The Museum Of Bad Art believes that some art deserves to be immortalized because it is memorably awful, as opposed to merely incompetent. Since 1994, the museum has been exposing the public to the most exceptional bad art, with a collection that now numbers about 600 pieces, exhibited at three locations, including this primary exhibition space just outside the men's restroom in the basement of an old movie theater. The original location was in Dedham, but they've moved. Thanks for the update from Louise Reilly Sacco who is the "Permanent Acting Interim Executive Director." Information is accurate, (we think) as of 05-22-17.

      If you go:
Admission is free. The other two galleries are located in South Weymouth and Brookline. Discussion with the staff might yield some entertaining anecdotes, such as the time a painting was stolen and the museum offered a reward of $6.50, then installed a fake video camera along with a sign saying 'Warning. This Gallery is Protected by Fake Video Cameras.' Keep an eye out for the museum's first acquisition, a painting called Lucy in the Sky With Flowers, which was rescued from a dumpster.
