• Niles Essanay Silent Film Museum - Fremont, California

Between 1912 and 1915, the Essanay Film Company was the leading producer of silent films and the de facto film capitol of the West. Actors such as Bronco Billy and Charlie Chaplin were the big stars of their productions. Shorts and features were filmed in the town. You can visit the museum, which is a resource for all facets of silent film making with photographs, posters and artifacts from its brief history. You can also attend a Saturday evening showing of the featured silent film. Step back in time when movies were oh so different!
