The Mizpah Hotel was built in 1907. It has been closed for many years but has recently been renovated and opened as boutique hotel. The furnishings are lovely the rooms are quite comfortable. There is a cafe and a steak house. I've stayed here several times since it opened, the most recent time was in November, 2015. The rooms are small, but elegant. Coffee service is available in the common area room on each floor in the morning.
If you go:
The Lady in Red was a Tonopah call girl in the 1920's who was murdered on the 5th floor and sightings of her continue. The incomparable Mining Museum in directly behind the hotel. The hotel bar is a great place to meet locals and tourists. In the past, one could meet local miners, these days, it is just as likely to strike up a conversation with engineers working on the new solar plant. Just down the main road is the Tonopah Brewing Company.
