Extending across more than one million acres, Mount Hood National Forest is best known for its eponymous mountain, a volcanic, snow-covered peak that rises to 11,249 feet, making it the highest point in Oregon. However, it is also home to a number of beautiful lakes, a section of the Old Oregon Trail and huge areas of designated wilderness.
