• Old Cowtown Museum - Wichita, Kansas

There are many living history centers throughout the country, but Wichita's Cowtown is special in that the buildings are authentic structures transported here rather than reconstructions. The 26 historic buildings include Wichita's first jail and first church. The complex is divided up into The Hunter/Trader Area, The Industrial/Business Area, the Residential Street, Drovers Camp 1880, the DeVore Farm, and the Old West Immersion. Costumed historical interpreters and re-enactors are on hand to enhance your experience.

      If you go:
Open all year, with special events occurring throughout the year. Closed Monday and Tuesday during peak season (mid-April to mid-November) and Sunday and Monday during off-peak.
