• Melrose - Natchez National Historical Park - Natchez, Mississippi

This Greek Revival mansion was built in the 1840s by cotton king John McMurran. Beautifully refurbished by the National Park Service, tours led by interpretive rangers take you through the mansion, explaining the history of the period, the family and the house. Paint, wall and floor covering patches from the time period were found and reproduced for historical accuracy. Wander the grounds to see other buildings, the family cemetery, and an exhibit about the life of slaves.
