The Silent Witness
The "Silent Witness"
It's a prototype of a Swiss Army knife!

This combination ear-cleaner and toothpick is on display in the Visitors' Center at Appomattox Court House National Historical Park near Lynchburg, Virginia. It belonged to Wilson Hix, proprietor of the Clover Hill Tavern and former Sheriff of Appomattox County.

Another artifact on display is the rag doll pictured here. Known as the "Silent Witness," she was in the room where Robert E. Lee surrendered to Ulysses S. Grant on April 9, 1865.
