Byways.org highlights drives in 30 states that have been designated as Scenic Byways by the Federal Highway Administration. Wonderful photos and great ideas here!

The Bureau of Land Management oversees 69 National Back Country Byways and nearly 262 million acres of land in the western states. This site is packed with enticing off-the-beaten-path info.

The Army Corps of Engineers manages 463 lakes around the US. Their locations are top notch, and their campgrounds are beautifully designed and maintained.

The US Forest Service offers an excellent gateway to maps and resources for scenic drives and camping.

Reserve America, now owned by Ticketmaster, handles reservations for 140,00 campsites in 44 states. (In 2001, they processed over 2 million camping reservations!)

Comprehensive back-road and off-highway itineraries in 30 states from the "Falcon Guides" series are available online at this site. Pop-up ads and Active X programming are a little irritating, but the scenic drive list is exceptionally good.
