Default San Jose to Neverland Ranch to LA

Hi,
Could you please tell me how long it takes to drive from San Jose to Los Angeles, and if it's possible to stop and see the Neverland Ranch (in Los Olivos) on the way? Or at least on a decent detour?
Thank you!

Default Via I-5 = 6 hours

If you drive down I-5, you can pretty much figure that you can drive between San Jose and Los Angeles in six hours. But since you want to stop by Los Olivos on the way, you'll need to drive US 101. It's about 245 miles from San Jose to Los Olivos (which will take about 4.5 hours).

About all you can see is the gate around the ranch property -- so I can't imagine that the stop will take more than 30 minutes.

From Los Olivos to Los Angeles it is about 130 miles, depending upon where in LA you are headed and it will take about 2.5 hours or so.

So, you're total trip down US-101 to the Neverland Ranch and beyond should be about 7.5 hours!

Mark

Thank you for your answer, Mark!
Could you please tell me which highway (US 101 and I5) offers greater sight seeing, less traffic jam? I need good arguments to convince my work team to drive US 101 (so that I can see Neverland) at least on the way from SJ to LA, and on the way back we could take I5. Or vice versa? Which is better?
Thank you!

Default When are you going?

The I-5 route is shorter and usually faster. (If you manage to drive I-5 during an episode of the infamous "Tule Fog" it would be much slower than US-101.

The US-101 is much more scenic, but is the longer route (especially with the detour to the Neverland Ranch property).

Default Neverland!

Thanks again for the prompt replies, Mark. We are getting in SJ on Friday, Nov. 20. Most likely we'll go to LA the following very early morning, Saturday Nov. 21 and get back to SJ on Sunday night. If we manage to rent a car so fast, of course....
So I hope we will drive US 101 down to LA and stop at Neverland on the way, and maybe on the way back to SJ take I-5, if the weather forecast looks good.
It will be our first time in The States so we look forward to it. Thanks again for the info.

Thanks again for you reply, Mark! We will be coming from Europe to SJ on Friday, Nov. 20. Most likely we will go to LA the following very early morning (Sat, Nov 21) and get back to SJ on Sunday evening. If we manage to rent a car so fast, of course....(?)
So I hope we take US 101 to get to LA and stop at Neverland on the way, and then maybe take I-5 on the way back to SJ, if the weather forecast looks good (tule fog seems scary).
It will be our first time in The States so we are looking forward to it. Thanks again for the info.

Either way you go, that is not going to give you much time in LA at all - it almost sounds to me like you should fly into LA instead of SJ.
