    Welcome to RTA!

The best way to avoid tolls is take I-78 west through NJ into PA, then I-81 to I-77 to Charlotte (using the I-485 bypass) to I-85 to Atlanta. This also avoids the whole congested I-95 corridor from NYC to Richmond. This is about a 900 mile trip and will take you 2 days. Please don't try to drive it straight through.

The only toll after you get on I-78 will be the bridge into PA, I think it's $1.00. Not worth trying to avoid this one.
