Default There is one within a few miles of my Raleigh, NC home

An local business where I purchase mulch has one. It had been holding a huge paint can at the "Giant Paints" store into the mid 1970s, the store closed, and this fellow acquired it. It's referred to by we locals as "The Big Man".

    Default Quest Scouts objective

Last year a theme for a Quest Scouts was Epic Proportions. The Travel objective towards earning the badge was to locate a Muffler Man and take a picture with yourself and the Muffler Man. I located one in Farmington, NM for my picture. Since then it has been fun to spot them along our travels. What has been great to see is how many have been restored or maintained in pristine condition. This past weekend in Flagstaff I spotted a pint-sized Muffler Man, larger than a human, but much smaller than the Epic Muffler Man. Wish I had taken a picture.
