Hello All! I'm so glad I stumbled upon this site. My boyfriend and I want to take a road trip this summer and are thinking of renting a car at Dulles Airport (outside of Washington, D.C.) in August and driving west to Denver, CO. We have about 7-10 days to complete the trip. Once we get to Denver we would fly home and don't need to spend time in the city. We both enjoy driving so that's not an issue. We'd probably like to keep it to 6-8 hours a day.
1.) Do you think that's feasible?
2.) Any recommendations of where to stay? We are open to anything and love both interstate driving and off-the-beaten path (we are also trying to keep to a modest budget to the best we can and plan on packing stuff for breakfast and snacks).
3.) I would really love to see Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons; is it crazy to try to fit this in? (Debating if we should fly out of Salt Lake City if that is more convenient…)
This is kind of a spontaneous "we need to travel and see the country" trip so any and all advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!
