  1. Default What Stops Should We Make, U.S. East Coast Road Trip

So I've begun planning a trip with somebody around the New England area. We are starting in Michigan, and we will travel East through Pennsylvania and around the tip of the East Coast and maybe go down as far as Virginia. We would love some suggestions on where to make stops! Preferably cheap places, definitely a lot of wilderness suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks, and Happy Travels.

Default How long will you be on the road?

Hi and Welcome to the Great American Roadtrip Forum.

You did not tell us how much time you have for this trip? That is important before anyone can give you suggestions for stops.

Do you have good maps to plan this trip? Most of the attractions along the way are on good maps. If you do not already have them I suggest you go to AAA and pick up some, or you might prefer a road atlas such as Rand McNally. Then you might find the suggestions in this paragraph helpful.

Those are your essential tool in any RoadTrip planning process. Start by marking all the places you know you want to visit. Then connect the dots. Then look for more places of interest and scenic routes along the lines connecting the dots. Repeat until you've got as many sites and roads as you think you want.
Electronics are great for finding specific addresses, but don't be tempted to rely on them for the complete trip.

    Happy planning.

Is this a one way trip or a loop back to Michigan? Where in Michigan are you starting from? What time of the year? You mention wilderness areas; are you camping?
