My boyfriend and I (from Manchester UK) are planning a 3 week road trips across some of the southern states in October / November this year, it's a round trip starting and ending in Nashville, here is our planned route so far:
Nashville (1 night)
Memphis (3 nights)
Austin (2 nights)
San Antonio (1 nights)
Ranch in Bandera (3 nights)
New Orleans (3 nights for Halloween!)
Full length of the Natchez Trace Parkway (3 nights incorporating Natchez, then possibly Jackson and Tupelo)
Back up to Nashville (2 nights)
I was just after a bit of advice for 2 of the longer drives, we have a spare night on the drive from Memphis to Austin, can anyone recommend anywhere of interest to stay over / visit on the way?
And then we have 2 nights spare on the drive from Bandera to New Orleans, again can anyone recommend any places to visit and stay along the way? I was thinking maybe Lafayette? I would really like to experience Cajun Country, swamps, bayous etc.
Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated! :)
