    Default Omaha to Oklahoma City

Driving from Omaha, NE to Oklahoma City later in the week and we will have about an extra day or so we can devote to sight seeing either on the road or in OK City.
Will be visiting the OK City Memorial (of course) and we are staying down at the Brickyard at a hotel. Was going through the book '1000 places to see before you die: US and Canada' and have some good ideas but was looking for advice.
Thanks, new to this Forum and site but my wife and I LOVE visiting various Presidential Libraries and Museums and taking road trips to get where we are going (really dislike flying but are forced to occasionally).
    Thanks for any advice.

Welcome to RTA! I'm with you ... really dislike flying but am forced to on occasion. Most of us who are confirmed road-trippers probably feel the same way. You can see so much more from the road than from the air.

The Chisholm Trail Museum (Click here) is up in Kingfisher, not all that far from OKC. Another thought would be the Oklahoma Territorial Museum and Carnegie Library, up in Guthrie (also not that far from OKC). Near Hinton is Red Rock Canyon State Park, for something scenic.

With your love of Presidential Libraries, have you visited The Harry S. Truman Library in Independence, Missouri?

That would be an easy detour not far off the direct route, although if you're from Omaha, it's also a place you could visit pretty easily on a weekend trip.

    Default And/Or the Eisenhower

The Eisenhower Library, Museum, and Boyhood Home in Abilene KS is also not far off your direct route. You could easily visit the Truman Library (and his home) in one direction, and the Eisenhower in the other.
