  1. Default Looking for best route between Chattanooga, TN and Dallas, TX

I am trying to figure out if it is better to go via 20 W. through Shreveport, L.A., or up to Nashville and through Memphis via 40 W. and 30 W. They take about the same amount of time. Which route has more trucks, traffic, and construction? Thanks for any help!

The fastest and most direct route is I-59/I-20. Take I-459 around Birmingham. I-24 is showing construction between Chattanooga and Nashville. Nashville and Memphis can be congested.

    Welcome to RTA!

My husband is an ex-trucker and says that you'll find all three on either route. It's really the luck of the draw and when you pass through, for traffic. Trucks use both routes, though he'll admit that the Memphis to OKC run on I-40 is a bit heavier with trucks at times. Construction? In summer, ANY interstate has possible/probable construction!

He says if it were him (and I'd agree), he'd take I-59 down to I-20, avoiding quite a few larger cities like Memphis and Little Rock. In contrast, Jackson and Shreveport are a piece of cake.
